1. Overview
recruiteME is an AI-powered job search platform focused on helping job seekers in Guyana and nearby markets find roles, manage applications, and prepare application materials. We take your privacy seriously and only collect information needed to operate the Service.
By creating an account or using recruiteME, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: name, email address, password (stored in hashed form if you sign up with email and password), profile photo (if provided through Google sign-in), and account role or status.
- Profile and career information: information you enter during onboarding or in your profile, such as headline, phone number, location, website, work history, education, skills, resume content, and other details you choose to provide.
- Application data: jobs you save or apply to, application status, cover letters, notes, attached resume files, and related activity in your pipeline.
- Communications data: when you send an application email through the Service, we store metadata such as recipient address, subject line, a preview of the message body, whether a resume was attached, delivery status, and any error details.
- Google account and Gmail connection data: if you connect Gmail, we store your connected Gmail address and OAuth tokens needed to send email on your behalf. See Section 5 for details on Gmail access.
- Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is handled by Stripe. We receive and store subscription status, plan type, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and billing period information. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
- Usage and technical data: session identifiers, IP address, browser type, device information, pages or features used, API usage logs, and credit consumption related to AI features.
- AI interaction data: prompts, messages, and content you submit to AI features (such as the job search agent, resume builder, cover letter generator, or profile assistant), along with generated outputs and token usage needed for billing and service operation.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- Provide core features such as job search, application tracking, resume generation, and cover letter drafting.
- Send job application emails from your connected Gmail account or, if Gmail is not connected, from our system email provider on your behalf.
- Process subscriptions, credits, and payments.
- Monitor usage, prevent abuse, maintain security, and improve the Service.
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable data protection laws require a legal basis, we process personal information based on one or more of the following:
- Performance of a contract with you (providing the Service you signed up for).
- Your consent (for example, when you connect Gmail or use optional AI features).
- Our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service, balanced against your rights.
- Compliance with legal obligations.
5. Google sign-in and Gmail data
recruiteME offers two separate Google integrations. It is important to understand what each one does.
Google sign-in:You may sign in or create an account using your Google account. In that case, Google shares basic profile information with us, such as your name, email address, and profile picture, according to your Google account settings and Google's policies.
Gmail connection (optional): You may optionally connect a Gmail account so that job application emails are sent from your own address. When you connect Gmail, we request the following Google OAuth scopes:
- gmail.send — to send emails that you initiate through recruiteME, such as job applications with optional resume attachments.
- userinfo.email — to identify which Gmail address is connected to your account.
What we do not access: We do not request permission to read your Gmail inbox, labels, drafts, or other messages. We do not scan, index, or store the contents of your existing Gmail messages. Gmail access is limited to sending emails that you explicitly trigger through the Service.
OAuth tokens associated with your Gmail connection are stored on our servers and used only to send email on your behalf and refresh access when needed. You can disconnect Gmail at any time from your account settings, which removes the stored Gmail connection data from your account.
recruiteME's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. AI processing
Several features use artificial intelligence to help you search for jobs, draft content, and manage your profile. When you use these features, relevant portions of your input — such as profile details, job descriptions, and chat messages — may be transmitted to AI service providers for processing.
Depending on the feature, we may use providers such as OpenAI (for agent, resume, and related AI workflows) and Ollama (for certain profile assistance features). These providers process data on our behalf to generate responses and outputs for you.
AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. You should review all AI-assisted resumes, cover letters, and messages before sending them. See our Terms of Service for additional disclaimers.
7. Third-party service providers
We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Service. These providers may process personal information only as needed to perform services for us:
- Google — account sign-in and optional Gmail sending.
- Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing.
- OpenAI — AI-powered job search, resume, and application assistance.
- Ollama — selected profile AI assistance features.
- Resend or SMTP email providers — transactional email and application sending when Gmail is not connected.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — application hosting, database storage, and related operations.
Job listings displayed in recruiteME may be sourced from third-party websites. Those external sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
If you delete your account or disconnect Gmail, we delete or anonymize associated personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or needed for legitimate business purposes such as billing records or security logs.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and restricted access to production systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices and rights
You may:
- Access and update profile information in your account settings.
- Connect or disconnect Gmail at any time.
- Cancel a paid subscription through the billing portal.
- Request deletion of your account by contacting us.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, such as the right to request access, correction, deletion, or portability of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
11. Children's privacy
recruiteME is not intended for individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
12. International data transfers
recruiteME may process and store information on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. Where required, we take steps designed to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of recruiteME after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
